Powerfuels in the European energy transition: The need for effective regulation

Together with the international participants of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, we will discuss the role of regulation in fostering innovations in powerfuels at the event „Powerfuels in the European energy transition: The need for effective regulation“ on June 17, 2019 in Brussels.

The role of powerfuels as a missing link in the global energy transition has been clearly highlighted by several studies. Powerfuels provide value for Europe in different ways, as powerfuels suppliers, technology providers, demand countries or combination of all of these. Powerfuels production technologies are market-ready as demonstrated by various studies and pilot projects. With effective regulations that reflect the carbon-neutral nature of powerfuels, a European and global market for powerfuels can be created. In this event, the state-of-the-art technologies and the challenges, opportunities for creating effective regulation will be discussed.

Embedded in the EU Sustainable Energy Week, we will discuss the role of powerfuels for the integrated European Energy Transition at the event “Powerfuels in the European energy transition: The need for effective regulation” on June 17, 2019 in Brussels. The event will consist of two main sections, highlighting recent development at Powerfuel technology frontiers and perspectives on EU regulatory horizons. In each section there will be initial impulse talks followed by roundtable dialogue.

Further, we are co-organising a conference session within EUSEW on 19th June, Wednesday, titled “Sectoral integration: shaping EU’s climate-neutral future”, further details will soon be published in the EUSEW website.

Call for Speakers

In order to enable a system-wide powerfuel perspective in the dialogue, we offer the possibility of participating in the event as a speaker. This could be any organisation or individual who would like to present their technologies, companies in the powerfuel technology frontier section or discuss challenges and opportunities in the EU regulatory horizons section. The talks could be either for 8 minutes or 15 minutes and preferably in a TED-talk format.

If you would like to apply as speaker for these impulse-talks, please indicate your preference in the registration page and mail us at powerfuels(at)dena.de with information on your role, your organisation, and an outline of your presenation.

In September 2018, the German Energy Agency (dena) initiated the Global Alliance Powerfuels together with renowned corporate partners as founding members. On April, 8th the Global alliance Powerfuels launched a discussion paper on its first Roundtable at the Berlin Energy Week.
