On March 28, 2023 the motion of Members of the European Parliament’s ITRE Committee to object the Delegated Act on Art. 27 Renewable Energy Directive (REDII), which is meant to set out electricity sourcing criteria for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs), e.g. additionality, failed. With 41 votes rejecting the objection vs. 22 votes in favour, the entry into force now seems to be only a matter of time. This is a huge breakthrough for providing the necessary regulatory and investment certainty needed in order to get the powerfuels‘ market going.
